About The Blog

How it all started

One dark evening, a newly adult Shubhangi walked down the corridors of her hostel. Scared that she’ll now have to leave the comforts of her home and live with complete strangers, she decided to remain silent.

Her persona didn’t help her either, she was just an overweight, confused ball watching every person walk by her room, with hopeful eyes, that someone will stop and talk to her. Unluckily, she had joined college late and groups had already been formed.

But slowly she started making friends, her blabbering mouth could only stay silent for so long. But till that time, her opinionated mind had enough time to see everyone, judge everyone, analyse relationships and friendships. Were those good or bad? Were those right? That is something she learned as she floated through her five years of college, making friends, making enemies, fighting, falling in love, falling out of love, losing weight, gaining weight and overthinking every single thing she possibly could afford in that little mind of hers.

So what happened

Well, she graduated, now she had thoughts, lessons, stories, some writings and obviously lots and lots of opinions. She thought and thought of what to do with these wasted learnings, one fine night, when she couldn’t sleep because of all the overthinking she had got to do. Her phone lit up with an e-mail notification from a blog she follows and eureka! She knew she had to start a blog. Share her thoughts, take feedback and learn more and more. Then on a call with her two best friends, she realized there is one more person who can make some major contributions to this blog and do it justice. So, she convinced and sold her idea to her best friend, Anushree Malviya; a brilliant writer, introvert and her second mom. Thus, started the work on the blog Omgeving- Dutch for surroundings.

This blog guarantees you both, an anxious extrovert and a depressed introvert, a careless child and a parent, the book lover and the movie lover, the ‘love at first sight' and the ‘I have no emotions', the I like looking fashionable and the I love comfort and popcorn, the practical and the emotional, the 5 am sleep and the 5 am rise.

It offers you our views of everything that surrounds us, as a society or as an individual. So please trudge along and also guide us on the way. I hope this blog helps you look around and help makes sense of things and experiences around. We hope our mistakes gives you lessons, so you don’t repeat them and our stories gives you the laugh of the day.

Happy reading!

She knows things. Yup, proudly calls herself Jack of all trades, Queen of none but better than a King of one. She loves reading, anything, from a random magazine article, to a product catalogue, from a 200 page thesis to random free erotica, she'll read it all if she has it in front of her and she has the time. Or she'll bookmark it and read it at night, you know, when she is supposed to sleep. She talks a lot  and dramatically too (one often wonders if she stepped into this world from a sitcom), she talks because she has a lot of thoughts and opinions, she has a lot of thoughts and opinions because she reads so much. It's all connected really.

Anushree Malviya

Have you watched a show she hasn't watched, it's hardly possible. Soft spoken, quite literally, you can hardly hear her if you are not in her breathing space. She can give you the most witty remark instantly. She wishes she was living in a fantasy world, probably dating Fred Weasley (Yes, a Harry Potter fan) but that's hardly ever gonna come true (there is hope there), so for the time being she sulks by watching shows and cleaning her room. Yes people, she adults and takes control of her life.
